Over the past year, we have all been reading about the new gTLDs (Generic Top Level Domains), Internationalized Domain Names, IPv4 Address Exhaustion, IPv6 Migration, etc. PC World published this article a couple of days ago: 5 Major Changes Facing the Internet in 2012. At this CTO Roundtable, we had experts lead a discussion to help us collectively understand these recent evolutions of the Internet and the key short-term and long-term implications to our respective organizations.

Steve Crocker, long-term CTO Roundtable member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICANN (the not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with global participants that coordinates the governance of the Internet) lead the discussion with two of his colleagues: Leslie Daigle, Chief Internet Technology Officer for the Internet Society, and Jamie Hedlund, ICANN’s Vice President of Government Affairs – Americas. The three of them provided us an overview to gTLDs, IPv6, etc. and answered a lot of questions.
